FAQ
Office plants and plant maintenance services in the bay area location.
How do I choose the right indoor plant?
Indoor plants can look great but before you get carried away with a particular specimen, it's important to understand the right environmental conditions needed for it to thrive. How much light or shade will the plant tolerate? How much water will it need? Is there enough room for it to grow? What about air humidity and draughts? Take note of the light and water conditions recommended in the individual plant description to see if it matches the environment you can provide.
What are the easiest indoor plants to look after?
If you're looking for an extremely low maintenance plant that is virtually impossible to kill, here are three that you should consider. Zamioculcas is a modern and structural looking plant with super glossy, feather like leaves that needs medium light and infrequent watering. Sansevieria aka Snake Plant or Mother-in-Law's Tongue is one of the toughest indoor plants able to withstand virtually any light condition and a minimum of water. Succulents including cacti and aloe vera will need plenty of light but hardly any water.
Which plants are best for improving air quality?
A study carried out by NASA back in 1980 showed that some plants were particularly effective at purifying the air. The research proved that certain indoor plants can absorb toxins such as benzene and formaldehyde, while plant filtered indoor spaces have up to 60% fewer airborne microbes including mould spores and bacteria. Purifying houseplants on the NASA approved list include Peace Lilies, Snake Plants, Spider Plants, Rubber Plants, Aloe Vera, Bamboo Palm and Weeping Fig.
What are the best office plants?
Having plants in the office not only enhances the overall appearance, but eliminates air pollutants, provides screening and makes the office a nicer place to be. Philodendrons, Pothos or Cacti, for example, are good for beginners, requiring hardly any maintenance. Dracaena or Rubber Plants are detoxifying while Umbrella Plants are good for creating privacy. For a splash of colour on your desk, an African Violet is hard to beat.
